This rant has been a long time coming. For a couple of years, I feel nervous sometimes when I am on board a public bus and the driver either thinks he's an F1 racer or recently got his licence.
For the first lot, it really freaks me out. I seriously feel unsafe, especially when we're on neighbourhood roads and he makes a tight corner or steps on the accelerator. My insides actually jump!
The second lot, has issues with changing gears I think. I am no driver, but it is really annoying when the bus makes sudden lurches and jerks. It is particularly bad for us who are standing. We have to grip the poles or those handles for our dear lives or lose our balance and smash into the next person beside us or worse, fall flat on the bus floor.
I wonder what is the criteria for being hired.
Perhaps, they need to be audited from time to time and their performance assessed…by incognito inspectors.
Whatever it is, I'll keep my hand on the pole, even if I have to wrestle for some hand space! (which happens often unfortunately)
