Moral of the Story

I went away after watching My Lovely Sam-Soon with this lesson in mind:

Men don't realise what they say or do, can make women misconstrue their intentions.

It's not something new to me. I've had plenty of such instances in my life. I don't know whether they actually think before they speak or act, or whether it is really a manifestation of their subconscious.

My Top 10 List:

1. He tells me that I make him real. He has no need for masks and guises when he is with me.

2. He rings me up on my home number and asked for his fiancée.

3. He stares when I talk and laugh with another guy and unnerves the said guy.

4. He goes down on one knee and presents me with a bouquet of roses at my birthday party.

5. He stares at me at breakfast and suddenly blurts out that I've got beautiful brown eyes.

6. He tells me that he doesn't let any women in and then brings me to the depths of his soul.

7. He tells me that he laughs more with me than with his fiancée.

8. He asks me to go to another country together with him, get jobs and settle down there.

9. He panics when I bring up the possibility of me up and leaving without telling anyone.

10. He begins to list down my character traits and the way we are together when my question was what to him, makes a good girlfriend.

These came from a couple of guys. I would have loved to give them a few hard knocks on the head. Fortunately, I was more bemused than misled. I knew my place. But my heart still felt the bittersweet ache every single time it happens.

My Lovely Sam-Soon

So my current obsession is this Korean drama which just started airing on Channel U last Thursday. Della and I went out the next day and bought the series because we were too impatient to wait for the story to slowly unfold. And Sazryna and I created our personal bests. We went on a 16-hour DVD watching frenzy. It started about 10 plus pm last Friday and ended at 4 pm Saturday!

The show's great. I dare say it's the best I've watched so far. None of the sappy, bitchy, tragic ingredients that make up most of the genre. (No insults intended here) I think the beauty of it is its realism, embodied in the female lead Sam-Soon. The three of us could so relate to her problems, anxieties and worries. We admire her spunk and strength. She's identifiable. And of course we all want a Jin-Hun a.k.a. Sam-Shik. The aloof guy who's different when he's with you. The guy who gets on your nerves. The guy who laughs at and with you. The guy who's possessive of you. And Hyun-Bin carried off the role so well. Their chemistry was spot on (despite them being 7 years apart in age in real life). And of course I have to mention that this 24 year old guy is sweetly gorgeous with a dazzling smile and dimples that tease. Love his voice and the way he touches his nose when he laughs.

Sigh my reel-life infatuations go on.

Still waiting for the day when someone says 'Saranghe yo' to me.

Still breathing.
