I had a lovely day, spending the eve of 2009 with my women friends. And although our intended evening at the beach did not come to be (the crowd was overpowering) we ended it off singing songs from the 80s and 90s, chilling (literally) in Lin's car. Saz sneezed and snoozed while we were trying hard to fill in the blanks. We would have made a fool of ourselves on 'Don't Forget the Lyrics' or maybe that would just be me. A great way to usher in the new year...really. I give thanks for you ladies : )
I know resolutions are aplenty right about now but I am not one to make any this particular time of year. I think they are a part of our daily endeavours and decisions.
Tonight, my mind chose instead to ponder about love. Its existence or lack thereof, at present and bitter-sweet tinges from the past. Rationally, I do not wish to recollect but these memories still come unbidden. Maybe, they serve to remind me - to hold on, to breathe, to believe. I should probably take some comfort in that.
“Love is not something you save and horde. You’re born with it and you spend it, when you have to and there’s always more coz you’re a woman…and there’s always suffering and pain and gentleness and sadness to make it grow.”
John Okada (No-No Boy)
