Went for the Harry Connick Jr concert last night at the Esplanade Theatre. I could only afford balcony seats so I could hardly see him. But it was a rich hour and a half for me. He paid tribute to New Orleans blues. I was so thankful that they were kind of standards that I knew.
But I love him best for his ballads. His interpretation of 'When I Fall in Love' was so emotive. I could feel it so. I teared. He finished with 'It Had To Be You' another favourite of mine.
Throughout, he was as always playful and entertaining when he spoke to the crowd. I pity or perhaps envy the guy in the white leather suit sitting in the front row. Harry actually went down to see him.
I've been a fan since my secondary school days. It's the smooth tone of his voice that draws me to him. Some people like to compare him to Buble but I would pick Harry if I had to make a choice.
I need me a piano playing jazzman. Ok I'd take a saxaphone playing one as well.
This vid is one of my all-time fave songs from him. It was for the soundtrack of 'One Fine Day', a remake of 'This Guy's In Love With You'. I never imagined it could sound so sexy. Well this IS Harry.
