Went for a speech and drama workshop this morning run by THE Julia Gabriel. She is such a lovely woman. I felt so at ease. I was at first, apprehensive, wondering what the session was going to be about. But what she shared was not at all alien or something totally bizarre. I always used to have this idea that ,"Ooooh...speech and drama. Something lofty, something I don't or can't do, something to only watch." But she made it quite practical and fun.
I do so want to incorporate that in my sessions. To excite the kids, engage them more in the activities. I need to throw away all inhibitions and self-consciousness and just do it. Tried it a bit a few weeks back when I did an Animal Action ABC Book. I got down and growled like a bear, charged like a jaguar, flapped like a macaw and howled like a wolf pup. (Heh can you imagine that?) The children enjoyed themselves and we sweated it out.
Kay, need to see where I can slot this in my lesson plans.
