Sorry guys...still on the topic of my abah. This I penned many years back...some time after I graduated from uni. Was just sitting at my balcony a lazy Saturday evening and this wrote itself out in my brain. There was a time when he told me he wanted me to be a doctor. And I often wonder whether I've disappointed him.

syed to Ana,
I personally feel that you have not disappoint anyone.
I have been a friend to you and your family for years now. I do remember visiting your home during these difficult times, and I think your family have managed to pull through and have been doing well over the years.
Individually, we set goals to attain the impossible.
I believe in destiny, but I also believe that God will not change our fate if we do not help ourselves to the opportunities given.
If you were to ask me, I will say that you and the rest of your siblings have done your dad proud.
Money and status are not yardsticks to measure our success. Everyone has a part to play in society. It is more important how you make use of the skills that you have to be a useful member of the society.
We may be understimated for our shortcomings, but we lead a life knowing that we have a family and many friends that care about us.
Take care!
Hey Syed, thanks for a most insightful comment. I'm gratified.
